Audio from former President Donald Trump's Secret Service microphone captured the moment Trump asked security to stand down for the crowd, seconds after shots rang out at a campaign rally on Saturday.
As Trump spoke at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, loud gunfire rang out through the crowd, sparking chaos. As supporters began screaming, Trump was seen covering his ears and members of the Secret Service quickly ran onto the stage to provide security for the former president. As the gunfire stopped, soldiers could be heard on a microphone giving the green light for Trump to enter his motorcade.
“Ready, advance! Up, advance!” came the soldier's voice.
“Sirs, get ready, sirs, get ready,” said another.
Soldiers can be seen helping Trump to his feet and the former president can be heard asking them to take something as security guards try to physically protect him, but as they move in, Trump can be heard looking towards the crowd, raising his fist and saying “wait, wait, wait.”
As supporters roared cheers for the former president, Trump continually pumped his fist in the air and appeared to say “fight” before being loaded into a car.
