The Trump administration has indicted and arrested numerous members of Tren de Aragua and ruptured groups allegedly establishing their own criminal enterprises in the United States.
Federal authorities have charged more than 20 individuals who were now or previously associated with the terrorist organization Tren de Aragua (TDA) for sex trafficking, robbery, assault and other heinous crimes across the United States. According to Monday’s press release from the Department of Justice (DOJ). Prosecutors charged six people accused of being current TDA members, and in another charge, 19 anti-Tren suspects, a shrapter faction made up primarily of former TDA peers. “As doubtful, Tren de Aragua is more than just a street gang. It is a highly structured terrorist organization that has destroyed American families with brutal violence, engaged in human trafficking, and spread deadly drugs through the community.”
“Today’s indictments and arrests span three states and destroy the TDA infrastructure that is working to completely dismantle and cleanse this organization from our country,” Bondi continued.

Of the 27 defendants charged, 16 have already acquired federal criminal, immigrant or state custody, and five more were arrested Sunday night and Monday for operations in New York and elsewhere, according to the DOJ.
Sex trafficking loomed heavily on the indictment, with federal authorities doing sex work to pay off their debts by explaining a complicated operation in which gang members allegedly call women called from Venezuela to the US “Malida.” To enforce compliance from Marchada, gang members are said to threaten to kill them and their families, and the pistol will whip them, commit other assault and kill them. Unsealed charges.
Gang members have been accused of trafficking a substance known as “Tusi,” a pink powdery substance containing ketamine. Authorities said the drug has become a gang’s “calling card.”
“Tren de Aragua is one of the most dangerous gangs in the country. [New York Police Department] New York City Police Chief Jessica Tish said in a prepared statement. “For the first time, TDA was appointed and charged as a criminal enterprise that it was,” he said.
“As allegedly in the indictment, these defendants wreaked havoc in our community, trafficking women for sexual exploitation, flooding our city with drugs, and committing violent crimes with illegal guns,” Tish continued.
The indictments and arrests show the latest blow to the TDA by the Trump administration. This has made great strides to dismantle criminal organizations.
First established in 2013 as a prison gang in Venezuela’s Aragua state, TDA has since swelled into an international criminal enterprise. Up to 5,000 member. Authorities have confirmed the existence of TDAs in at least 15 states, and the network may be even more widespread throughout the US.
Around 8 million Venezuelans fled their country under President Nicolas Maduro, the authoritarian leader of the left who oversaw rampaging inflation, economic turmoil and political crackdown. Many of these Venezuelan immigrants have now headed towards the United States, primarily by illegally crossing US-Mexico borders, customs and border protections. The data will be displayed.
Some Venezuelans reaching American soil include members or peers of the TDA. A leaked October 2024 Department of Homeland Security report indicates that more than 600 foreigners living in the United States may be linked to the TDA, and court documents filed by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency in March show that more than 170 TDA members were on the agency’s non-conclusive docket list.
President Donald Trump took office specified The TDA and other well-known gangs, as foreign terrorist organizations, allow authorities to better dismantle more resources.
Trump also invoked the wartime authority of the Alien Enemy Law (AEA), and reached an agreement with El Salvador to quickly detain and expel TDA members, and housed many of these deportees of the county’s newly constructed MegaPrison. However, these moves have so far been filled with intense resistance from Democrats and Liberal groups to use the court system to prevent the deportation of more TDA members under AEA authorities.
