Hostages formerly held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip have detailed brutal torture and violence perpetrated against them in a new report prepared by the Israeli government for the United Nations.

“About half of the returned hostages said they were intentionally starved during their captivity. They were fed poor food, which often led to feelings of hunger, which worsened over time,” the report said. The book says: “In addition to inadequate nutrition, dark storage increased the risk of vitamin D deficiency. This malnutrition resulted in an average weight loss of 8–15 kg (10–17% of body weight). On average, children lost 10% of their body weight, and in extreme cases, girls lost 18% of their body weight.
Other hostages interviewed for the report included two young children who said they were deliberately branded with hot objects by terrorists. One female hostage said she was sexually assaulted at gunpoint, while others watched as their captors stripped and tied them to beds as terrorists looked on. He said it would be.
The male hostages were routinely beaten and kept in small, dark areas with their hands and feet bound, and in some cases were forced to soil themselves without access to the bathroom, the report said.
After killing around 1,200 people, Hamas fled to the Gaza Strip on October 7 with 251 hostages, according to the Times of Israel. There are currently 96 hostages being held by Hamas, including the bodies of at least 34 people who are known to have died as hostages.
The report further states that many of the hostages who have returned to Israel have been left with severe psychological and emotional scars, and in some cases remain in brutal captivity despite their return to Israel. He also talks about continuing to take action.

The Hebrew version of the report states that the two teenage hostages were forced to perform sex acts on each other and to undress in front of the terrorists, according to the Times of Israel. Hamas prisoners touched hostages’ private parts and whipped them.
Israel has launched an ongoing war against terrorist organizations following the October 7 attack, the deadliest in Israel’s history. As the fighting continued, Israeli forces killed thousands of fighters in combat and airstrikes, greatly weakening Hamas’s strength.
