Housing Authority of Cochise County now serving the City of Douglas

Cochise County, Arizona (KGUN) — The new year will allow people receiving housing assistance within the city limits of Douglas to apply more efficiently.

The Cochise County Housing Authority (HACC) now serves the entire county, including residents of Douglas.

The Douglas City Housing Authority and HACC reached an agreement in December after years of debating the idea. The Housing Choice Voucher Section Eight program and other public housing needs are enforced by Douglas and his HACC in Bisbee.

“Now that it’s all under one roof, I think it’s a little more convenient for everyone, every voter, or Cochise County resident,” said Anita Baka, Cochise County Housing Executive Director. I was. His 193 vouchers for Douglas is a real honor for my staff and myself. ”

Douglas operations are held every Wednesday at the county community building on G Avenue. Residents can also schedule an appointment or stop by the Housing Authority’s office in Bisbee Monday through Friday.

The county will distribute a total of 686 vouchers to eligible local residents. This is an increase of 193 from the previous year.

Prior to the agreement, Mr. Baka said Douglas residents receiving housing assistance would be entitled to the same if they moved to another part of the county, as well as those who moved to the area from another part of the county. We said we had to port over. Now we have one entity to manage everything, so if we move within the county, no one needs to port over.

Letters have been mailed to landlords, voucher holders, and anyone on Douglas’ waiting list.
