Hunter Biden's lawyers on Tuesday asked the judge to delay sentencing on the gun charges, noting that some of his potential character witnesses are involved with the 2024 presidential campaign and the current administration.

“Several individuals who will be submitting letters to both courts as part of Mr. Biden's sentencing memorandum are currently engaged in government business and travel with the current Administration or are involved in the 2024 presidential campaign, and time is running short,” Biden's lawyers wrote. “Once Mr. Biden's legal team receives those letters, which may not be possible very soon, the legal team will need time to incorporate them into a pre-sentencing memorandum.”
The lawyers noted that time would also be needed if there was “live testimony” from certain individuals during the hearing, “including individuals who may testify in person or events that may occur immediately following the hearing,” they wrote.
