Stephen A. Smith on Monday blows up the Democrats with a new push on President Donald Trump following his decision to attack Iran.
Trump announced Saturday that the US had attacked major Iranian nuclear facilities using “bunkerbuster” bombs designed to destroy weapons of mass destruction in protected areas. On Monday’s episode of “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” Smith said he was frustrated by the party’s claims against Trump’s bluff each despite his constitutional authority to act on defense issues.
“The same old songs and dances. I thought you’d heard this before. I thought it was over. And it ended the moment you lost the popularity vote and the vote college vote and all the swing state and lost the election.

clock:
“Whatever you feel about the President of the United States, do you think it’s time while we’re in the midst of such a struggle, and seeking the US President’s ammo each? “The Democrats were saying that when Obama bombed Libya when Libya took office, we were making all this noise about how the War Power Act was being used and how Donald Trump didn’t get Congress’ approval.”
Smith explained the distinction between Trump’s actions and the declaration of war.
“Well, this is not an act of war. This is eradicating the threat. No civilians were targeted. The nuclear location was targeted. So they can manipulate the actions of war forces themselves and are not interested in getting Congress’ approval,” Smith said. “The Democrats know that for Obama, so if you know that for Obama and didn’t say it when it involved him in Libya, why are you trying to make that claim against Donald Trump?”
War Power Resolution (WPR) of 1973 I’ll allow it The President requested notice to Congress within 48 hours to take military action in the event of an emergency without prior approval from Congress. Previous military action like former President Barack Obama intervention Libya did not seek formal parliamentary approval and raised questions regarding the application of WPR in these cases.
Democrats who previously supported Obama’s military action in Libya are now criticising Trump’s strike against Iran’s nuclear sites. Despite defending Obama’s 2011 Libyan intervention constitutionally and democratic California Rep. Nancy Pelosi Called Trump’s recent attacks ignore the fact that Obama acted without Congressional approval, citing a memo from the DOJ who said such approval was not necessary.
Trump has announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran following the US strike at Iranian nuclear site. He blessed both countries, and was set to be enacted within hours and lasting 12 hours.
