Inmate attempts sexual assault at Arizona prison
An inmate at an Arizona prison tried to slide across the receiving floor to attack a woman, but was caught after a screaming witness alerted guards.
Tempe, Arizona – A shocking incident was caught on camera at the Maricopa County Jail in which an inmate slipped past guards and made his way into the women's side of the facility.
This happened at a Maricopa County reception facility in April.
Justin Avery was in custody after allegedly assaulting multiple women on Arizona State University's Tempe campus.
According to court documents, Avery pulled down the inmate's pants behind his back as he was sleeping.

He was stopped after another woman spotted him, screamed and called security.
He later admitted to planning to sexually assault her, according to the documents.

In response, MCSO says it has added mirrors to better monitor blind spots and is working to prevent something like this from happening again.
Avery has been charged with an additional count of sexual assault and is reportedly scheduled to appear in court next week.
