‘It Looked Like An Inferno:’ Video Shows Civilians, Deputies Rescuing Man Trapped Inside Burning Car

Deputies and a group of citizens in King County, Washington, rescued a man trapped inside a burning car after a near-fatal crash.

Jacob Shook started to fall asleep while driving home. According to Go to KING5 News. According to the newspaper, it is believed that Shook’s car ran out of control off Newcastle Golf Club Road on October 9 and crashed. “I had six broken ribs, a ruptured bladder, and third-degree burns on the top and bottom of both legs,” Shook told the magazine. “I had burns on my legs and severe burns on my hands, but they are healing.” (Related: Newly released video shows the moment a car crashes into a nail salon, killing 4 people and injuring 9 others)

Body camera footage showed King County deputies and several residents rescuing Shook from the engulfed vehicle. According to the paper, Shook’s car ran out of control off Newcastle Golf Club Road on October 9 and crashed into the car.

“It was like hell in there,” Shuk told KING 5. “It was like hell, like I had imagined.”

The deputy tried to cut Shuk’s seat belt, but was unable to pull him from the trapped vehicle. Bellevue Fire arrived a short time later, extinguished the fire, and opened the door, the outlet reported.

Schock said he will remain in the hospital for at least four more weeks, KING 5 reported. he has online fundraiser to cover his medical expenses.

“I’m so glad he’s alive,” his mother, Lou Ann Shook, told the magazine. “We could easily bury him.”
