Joe Biden Said to Be Receiving Radiation Therapy During Prostate Cancer Fight

Joe Biden Undergoing Radiation Therapy for Prostate Cancer

Former President Joe Biden is currently receiving five weeks of radiation therapy following his prostate cancer diagnosis early in May, according to various reports.

A spokesperson for Biden stated, “As part of his treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation and hormone therapy,” as reported by NBC News on Saturday.

Biden, who is 82 years old, has already been on hormone therapy, and this radiation treatment signals a new stage in his overall medical care, sources have indicated.

He also had surgery in September to address a skin cancer issue on his forehead. The procedure, referred to as “Mohs surgery,” involves removing layers of skin until no traces of cancer remain.

Earlier in 2023, during a routine medical check, a skin cancerous lesion was also removed from Biden. At that time, doctors reported that no additional treatment would be necessary.

On May 18, Biden’s office announced via a post on X that he had been diagnosed with an “advanced” form of prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones. The statement indicated that he had recently been examined due to increased urinary symptoms, which led to the discovery of prostate nodules. His condition was characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (grade group 5) with bone metastases.

The statement noted, “Although this is a more aggressive disease, this cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive and can be effectively managed. The President and his family are considering treatment options with his physicians.” There are indications that the cancer may have gone undetected for several years, given that it had already metastasized.

As for how he’s doing now, the reports suggest that Biden is “doing well” at this point.
