The ghost of former President Joe Biden still plagues the Democrats. He may have been riding the LEGO Beach sunset, stained by his legacy at the White House, Afghanistan, censorship and failed retreats from inflation, but his party’s reputation is also dirty. – They are even facing unprecedented bad recognition ratings.
a A catastrophic CNN poll The Democratic rating was shut down at just 29% and found it to have plummeted to the historic low level. Since the start of the Biden-Harris administration in January, the approval rate has fallen by 20 points. This is the party’s worst approval rating measured by CNN polling dating back to 1992. So what will give? It may have something to do with the party’s slap dash message from the first joint speech to Congress. Alternatively, Americans like Elon Musk and Tesla may not be interested in parties where radical members burn bomb dealers and charging stations.
But amidst their identity crisis and poor recognition ratings, one of the biggest reasons Democrats struggled to gain their foothold during their second Trump era is simply Joe Biden.

At the end of the day, Biden’s presidency was a temporary band-aid about the internal battle that had been brewed since Donald Trump’s first victory in 2016. He is hoping that Chuck Schumer will be brought out of his leadership position alongside Democrats like New York State Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. But in 2019 and 2020, despite the huge ideological gap between young Democrats and old people, the party tried to turn it onto paper by supporting the boring, “normal” and proven Biden. They used the pandemic to burn up chaos, attack Trump, and wisely appealed to Americans who craved “return to normal.” And what is more common in American politics than a lifelong career senator representing neoliberal interests in the swamps of Washington, DC? (Related: “Anger and Betrayal”: Democrats’ civil war has worsened)
His office hours were not normal. It was extraordinary in the sense that none of what Biden did was normal. He ran as a medium centreist, but he dominated like an aspiring FDR who cared more about nuking conservative grandmas from Facebook than to curb the inflation of running wild. And that he was cognitively challenged and mentally absent for the potential of his entire term. The party who told the Americans he was against was as sharp as they came, continued to lie when the story crashed in July 2024 and Biden was eventually replaced by Kamala Harris.
Americans should not forget such naked supplies very easily. You cannot support the elderly throughout the presidency. Lie about it, and expect Gaslight until the cows get home, and your party’s approval rating will soon approach close to 50%. Americans also didn’t forget the Biden family’s influential scheme, the accusation of corruption, or the Hunter’s awful last minute pardon. What do you guess? They also lied about the pardon.
The party is not destined forever to be haunted by Biden’s ghosts. But for the time being, Biden’s legacy has been hiding in the background, permeating everything Democrats say and do. The Biden era continues to follow that path until new faces emerge with new agendas and outlooks and denies the Biden era.
