President Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign continued to be filled with gaffes, which ultimately led to his withdrawal from the presidential race. The Daily Caller has rounded up the most important moments as pundits and voters alike reflect on 2024.
1. Biden V. Robert Hur
The then 81-year-old committed one of the year’s most memorable gaffes behind closed doors during a meeting with special counsel Robert Hur. Upon release of a report into Biden’s handling of classified documents, Huo declined to indict Biden because jurors might view the president as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” .
To support this claim, Mr. Hsu pointed out during the five-hour interview that Mr. Biden had forgotten the date of his late son’s death and when his term as vice president began and ended.
Mr. Biden compounded that mistake by holding an unexpected news conference after the report was released, criticizing Mr. Xu for questioning his late son’s death. Transcripts of the interview previously obtained by the Daily Caller show that Biden lied and that he was the one who brought up his son’s death.

Mr. Xu asked the president where his work-related documents were kept after he finished serving as vice president in January 2017.
“Um, uh…I, I, I, I don’t know, what is this, 2017, 2018, that area?” Biden began.
“Yes, sir,” answered Herr.
“Remember, at this point, my son is either deployed or dying, and he was. By the way, at the time I left the Senate, there were still a lot of people in the Senate. All except the president had resigned during this period. He encouraged me to run. And I’m not trying to be mean. He just thinks she has a better chance of winning than me. ” Biden began. “So, at this point, I hadn’t run yet. Even though I was at Penn, I hadn’t let go of the idea that I might run for office again. But if I were to run again… Then he’d run for president. So what happened? What month did Beau die? Oh my God, May 30th.”
“It’s 2015,” interjected White House Counsel Rachel Cotton.
“It’s 2015,” the unidentified man confirmed.
“Did he die in 2015?” Biden asked.
“It was May 2015,” the unidentified man repeated.
“That was in 2015,” Biden replied.
“Or, I don’t know what month, but I think it was the year,” Robert Bauer, the president’s personal attorney, opined.
This is a much-discussed part of Robert Hur’s interview with Joe Biden, where Biden repeatedly made false statements. Biden is stumbling over the year Donald Trump was elected president. 2. The White House corrected Biden 148 times in four months.
Between January and April 24, the White House communications staff had to correct the public record of Biden’s statements at least 148 times, according to a Daily Caller analysis.
Every time the president speaks or takes questions, the White House releases official records. A review of transcripts by the Daily Caller found that communications staff frequently amended or redacted transcripts, including correcting organization names, dates, and job titles.
Other changes affected verbs and completely changed the meaning of presidential statements. Words the president did not say but should have said were also added to the record.
Some examples:
“At that time, no, it was because of my American Rescue Plan.” — which american [Republican] “We voted no, and we, I might add, made the largest investment in public safety in history,” the White House transcript of Biden’s March State of the Union address states. read.
“I was at a town meeting in Northern Virginia, and a woman I was very, very close to stood up with her two daughters and said, “You know what? stage 2 [Type 1] Diabetes. They need insulin. And although I have insurance, I can’t afford to pay the premiums. That’s $700 a month for two people,” Biden’s Feb. 7 campaign remarks in the White House transcript say.
“Since I came to office, 14 million new jobs have been created, including 440 [thousand] Since I’ve been in the office, I’ve found new jobs in North Carolina alone. (Applause) It’s this guy’s fault here. There are approximately 800,000 manufacturing jobs nationwide,” another record reads.
In at least one case, the White House transcript It’s a false depiction of what Biden said out loud.
At an event in April, Biden appeared to read the word “pause” from a teleprompter. However, the original White House transcript The president’s statement did not include the word “pause,” but instead read “(inaudible).” Ann updated A version of the recording was later updated to include the president’s “silence” and “(inaudible).”
3. “We beat Medicare.”
Biden’s disastrous performance in the June debate ultimately led to his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race. One particular moment stood out.
Mr. Biden froze as he tried to answer questions about the national debt and taxes. CNN host Jake Tapper quickly came to the president’s aid, abruptly interrupting Biden and peppering Trump with questions.
“We will be able to cancel his debts, we will be able to help make sure he does all the things we need to do, including childcare and elder care. We will also be able to strengthen the health system. We can make sure that we continue and make sure that we stay healthy.” What I was able to do during COVID-19, I give all the lonely people the right to do. is completed. I’m sorry, we’re dealing with everything that has to do with us,” the president continued before stopping and looking down.
After a few minutes of silence, Biden said, “Look, we finally won Medicare.”
“I really don’t know what he said at the end, and I don’t think he knows what he said either,” Trump said after Biden briefly trailed.
From there, the entire Democratic Party panicked.

4. Biden calls Secretary of Defense a “negro”
Immediately after the presidential debate in June, Biden was interviewed on Black Entertainment Television (BET).
Biden seemed to forget Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s name and called him a “nigger.”
“And the important thing is to treat people with dignity, and that means making sure that, for example, [the heat I’m getting] Because I nominated a Black man to be secretary of defense,” Biden said.
“I chose the name Ketanji Brown because of the people I named,” Biden continued.

A Pentagon spokesperson responded to the gaffe, saying: new york times This is twice as much as the Secretary of Defense has “absolute confidence” in the president.
5. Biden calls Trump supporters ‘trash’
While it certainly wasn’t a gaffe if the president meant it, the moment created problems for both the White House and the vice president’s team.
Attending a vote-to-vote campaign with Voto Latino in October, Biden began talking about a joke made by cartoonist Tony Hinchcliffe during a Trump rally, then said, “The only garbage floating around there is his I’m a supporter,” he added. Biden’s comments, which came at the same time as Kamala Harris moderated her closing arguments, overshadowed the vice president’s big night.
The White House quickly responded to the backlash, claiming that Biden was addressing Hinchcliffe rather than those who voted for President Trump, and amended “supporters” to “supporters” in the president’s written comments. The records were made public.
A White House stenographer later recorded that Biden had said “supporter,” but the press office later released an amended transcript after “consulting with the president,” according to the Associated Press. It became clear.

Amid the controversy, Harris was the first to distance herself from Biden’s comments the next day.
“Listen, first of all, I think he made his comments clear. To be clear, I strongly oppose criticizing people based on who they vote for. ” said the Vice President.
