JOSH HAMMER: Don’t Let Hunter’s Plea Deal Distract From Biden’s Bigger Problem

In America right now, it’s certainly great to be Biden.

The apparent sweetheart plea deal that the president’s prodigal son Hunter Biden struck with his father’s Justice Department this week has been denounced by conservatives, at least since then-FBI Director James Comey pardoned then-presidential candidate Hillary It sums up the two-tiered justice system in many ways. Clinton got acquitted because of a notorious mail server. The reason is, in Mrs. Clinton’s words, “without a decent prosecutor,” the case would not have happened.rear Five-Years Department of Justice criminal investigation by IRS whistleblower who came forward to warn against federal too predictable child glove treatment of ex-crack addict and foreign influence hunter It’s been crazy the past few months. You will be spared a prison sentence for brazenly lying on a federal firearms background check form, and you will be spared any penalty (other than a two-year probationary period).

It’s easy to imagine how this whole dastardly business failed. (Related: Peter Roffe: Biden’s White House won’t be able to hide behind Hunter’s mistress deal)

Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss (President Trump’s appointee, presumably retained after the 2020 presidential election to give Uncle Joe “apolitical” legitimacy in the Hunter investigation) is a close Given the circumstances of the investigation, I will call Attorney General Merrick Garland to report the findings. He scrutinizes the nature of the object of investigation. Garland, like any good henchman, calls his boss, or “Big Guy,” at his 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And now the “big man” calls his wayward son, who has finally turned up in Arkansas court for his paternity and child support hearing, and asks him to do his favor. “Hunter, I love you, and I will always be proud of you.” One who imagines how this call came from a guilt-ridden, decrepit commander-in-chief in his 80s. There is also “But I want you to give me a slap on the wrist to solve our problem.”

and the deed was completed. But what exactly is the “problem”?

After all, Don Corleone — the “big guy” in his own criminal family — thought nothing of Joe Biden. And the latest in a series of Biden family courtesies and multi-million dollar payoff corruption related to Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky and allegations of recording 17 calls with Joe and Hunter will come to fruition. Corleone certainly has no influence over Biden. I expect that to happen. After all, the Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Burisma, was rudely dismissed by the parliament of the notoriously corrupt country around the same time as Zlochevsky’s phone call was recorded. Recall also that then-Vice President Joe Biden was the Obama Administration’s nominee on Ukraine in general.

By the way, the reckless act was not carried out in the favor of a young and frivolous “MAGA” elected official. The words come from Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who turns 90 in three months and has lived in Washington DC for just two years longer than Uncle Joe. Grassley’s allegations, stemming from FBI documents claiming the senator met with himself, are not easily dismissed. And given the current risks of unrestricted U.S. foreign involvement, Ukraine, The odds of a Biden president being financially compromised for that particular country are starting to look pretty bleak in any country. This is doubly true given the horrendous stupidity of the US approach to the Russo-Ukrainian war so far. The United States has focused only on rash escalation with little consideration of withdrawal or exit strategies.

The plea deal between Hunter and David Weiss can only be interpreted in its broader context.By dropping news of a deal with Hunter’s lover, the administration seems to think: now, Five years after the Justice Department investigation, the American public will stop fussing just a week after former President Donald Trump was arraigned in unprecedented federal indictments. Now that Hunter has confessed to federal attorneys for federal crimes, they think there’s no need to fret about the two-tiered justice system. Federal officials speculate that the Republican Party is no longer obsessed with Burisma and Mykola Zlochevsky—or the Ukrainian mob in general. Don’t fall for this cynical trap. The latest Burisma trade-off allegations, so far unsubstantiated, are highly plausible, with both the dismissal of Mr. Shokin and the famous resignation of Hunter from Burisma’s board of directors. schedule, but is a matter of serious national interest and concern. They cut into Ukraine, the center of America’s deepest and most costly flight abroad today. If the President of the United States and his corrupt criminal son are compromising in any way personally regarding the Zelensky regime in Kiev, we need to know it.and we need to know that now — before the threat of a direct and widespread conflagration with the Russian Federation becomes even greater than it is now. Republicans in the Senate and House, with the support of intellectually honest Democrats, must now focus their energies on this issue.

David Weiss, Merrick Garland, and Uncle Joe himself have hung very shiny objects in front of us all. The prodigal son pleaded guilty to federal crimes. “Look, this system is really fair!” they claim. What an obvious stupidity. Really, how stupid do our rulers think we are?
