“While this choice was within the district attorney's right to make as an elected official, it has consequences,” McBurney ruled, according to NBC News. “She gave Sen. Jones' opponents a ban on her own office.”
Mr. Willis has issued subpoenas to the investigation of Mr. Jones and others, and Mr. Willis has been allowed to continue his involvement in other “fake elector” investigations.
Mr. McBurney also ruled that another prosecutor should prosecute Mr. Jones.
Mr. Willis is currently under fire for allegedly misusing county funds in his decision to appoint his alleged lover, Nathan Wade, as outside counsel in the case against Mr. Trump.
