Kamala Harris Criticized On Social Media For Serious July 4 Message Featuring Photo That Excludes Joe Biden

Kamala Harris Faces Criticism Over July 4 Message

Former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris drew backlash on social media for her July 4 message, which many found to have a harsh tone. Accompanying the post was a photo taken from the celebration, featuring her husband, Doug Emhoff, watching the fireworks.

“This July 4th, I’m going to take a little time to reflect on things. They’re tough right now,” Harris wrote on X on Friday. “They’ll probably get worse before they get better.”

Users online noted the absence of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden in the image, even though they were nearby during the event. “Kamala cuts out Joe, which is very iconic,” tweeted Link Lauren, a former adviser to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., sharing a wider shot showing Biden just feet away.

Moreover, Republican National Committee spokesperson Kiersten Pels remarked, “I didn’t become the president who posted on July 4th ‘that’s going to get worse.'” This comment highlighted the stark tone of Harris’s message.

Radio host Mark Simone also criticized the message, stating that Harris set a new record for the worst July 4th message ever. His tweet captured the sentiment prevailing among some critics.

Recent polls indicate Harris may struggle to maintain support among Democrats as the 2028 election approaches. An Emerson College survey from June revealed that only 13% of Democrats favored her in the primaries, a sharp decline from 37% just months earlier in November.
