Kamala States Trump Should Hold His Own ‘Loose Gun Laws’ Accountable for Second Assassination Attempt

Kamala Harris’s Book Discusses Trump’s Second Assassination Attempt

In her recently released memoir, “107 Days,” former Vice President Kamala Harris suggests that President Donald Trump will bear some responsibility for an assassination attempt scheduled on a golf course in Florida, set for September 2024.

Harris addresses the violence linked to inflammatory messages from Democrats, asserting that they incited individuals against Trump. She emphasizes that, despite other defendants, the focus should be on the need to denounce Republican opposition to gun control laws.

As she writes, “Trump blamed the campaign rhetoric for labeling him a threat to democracy. He should have condemned the lax gun laws he supported, especially since a man with a criminal record had been flagged for possessing an automatic weapon.” She adds, “Contrary to popular belief, he had no issues acquiring a lethal weapon.”

The suspect, Ryan Routh, 57, faces five felony charges for allegedly planning to shoot Trump at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. This attempt follows another incident where he tried to harm Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024.

Law enforcement found evidence, including 19 rounds in an SKS rifle magazine, near the golf course. Routh, having a significant criminal background, was barred from legally purchasing firearms, yet he managed to acquire a Chinese-made SKS semi-automatic rifle through associates.

In connection with this case, federal prosecutors secured a plea deal from two individuals in North Carolina for illegally helping Routh obtain weapons.

During a lengthy trial, Routh opted out of having public defenders and pleaded not guilty, facing a potential life sentence for the most serious charges. Harris has faced criticism, especially from Republicans, for her strong language regarding Trump, even calling him a “fascist.”

Recently, she ramped up her rhetoric, labeling Trump a “tyrant” in an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow after the 2024 elections. Federal prosecutors reaffirmed that Routh had plotted to kill Trump “for a long time.” U.S. Attorney Christopher Brown made a strong claim to the judge, stating, “This was not a publicity stunt. The evidence shows definitively that the defendant wanted Donald Trump to die.”
