Gila County Superior Court announced the addition of Chief Justice Johnson. Diana Cannon will be sworn in as interim judge on February 5, 2024. Judge Canon attended the University of Arizona James E. Rogers School of Law, graduating magna cum laude in May 2002.
She was admitted to the Arizona Bar in October of that year. She is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Judge Cannon previously served as a prosecutor in the Gila County Attorney's Office for six years. Prior to her career, she worked in the private sector for 15 years and contributed to six published appellate opinions. Judge Canon also serves as president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Pima County Bar Association and previously served as secretary and vice president of the Southern Chapter of the Arizona Association of Women Lawyers. She is a former finalist in the Richard Grand Legal Writing Competition and served as articles editor for the Arizona Law Review during her law school years.
Judge Canon grew up in Grove and graduated from Grove High School in 1994. She is honored and humbled to be Gila County's first full-time female Superior Court judge.
