As the “big and beautiful bill” makes its way through Congress, US Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) emphasizes that expanding President Trump’s tax cuts is a key priority.
This week, the US House Ways and Means Committee announced its intention to extend these cuts while introducing tax reductions for tips and overtime pay. While this is a small step towards passing the law, the Senate’s approval is still required for the spending bill.
Britt shared insights about the spending bill during her appearance on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program” on Wednesday.
“You’ll be hearing a lot about extending the TCJA, or the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which Trump passed during his first term in 2017. If we don’t extend these cuts, it could lead to a $4 trillion tax increase for Americans by 2026. So, it’s crucial that we expand these,” she pointed out.
Britt elaborated on how these tax hikes could impact residents of Alabama.
While setting tax thresholds is crucial, Britt believes that a genuine effort to cut spending is also necessary.
Britt expressed her support for President Trump’s overall agenda.
