Kids learn how to swing clubs at Desert Hills

YUMA, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – The City of Yuma sponsors a three-week event called Tee It Up Yuma. The event, which was held for the fifth time this year, was free of charge.

The event is for those wanting to learn the basics of golf and was held on Saturday, May 13th from 10am to noon at the Desert Hills Golf Course.

The event was attended by participants ages 8 to 16 and was introduced to the five pillars of golf by golf instructors.

“We also provide kids who don’t have a set of golf clubs…we actually provide them with a set of golf clubs because we are making a donation through our junior program. , they start with a small club, and when they grow out of the club, they can really do that.” Bring them back and trade them with us and we’ll give you a new set.” said Desert Hills golf supervisor Chris Hardy.

The third and final day of the event takes place next Saturday, but Desert Hills plans to hold the event later this year from October 22nd to November 5th.
