Kieffer and McMaster Sworn In as Members of the Graham County Community College District Board

New Board Members Sworn In at EAC

The Graham County Community College District Trustees, responsible for managing operations at Eastern Arizona College (EAC), have officially taken their oaths for a six-year term. This includes Vinskifer, who is starting his first term, and Tina C. McMaster, who begins her third after winning reelection. Both members will contribute to a five-person governing committee, dedicated to ensuring that the college’s policies align with the needs of students and the surrounding communities.

Vinskifer represents the largest geographical district, District 5, which encompasses Pima, Fort Thomas, Bonita, and Solomon. He replaces Ric Mattice, who served an impressive 50 years. Vinskifer comes with a strong background in leadership, transparency, and a deep-rooted connection to the residents of Graham County.

A lifelong Pima resident, Vinskifer held the position of mayor from 1994 to 2002, implementing significant improvements to local infrastructure and utilities. He also dedicated 12 years to the Pima Town Council and eight years to the Pima School Board. Additionally, he spent 20 years as a volunteer firefighter and IEMT at the Pima Fire Station.

In addition to his service, he was a successful cotton farmer and now works as a Chattel Evaluator-AVP with Agwest Farm Credit, an Agricultural Loan Cooperative. His current role focuses on meeting the needs of farmers while supporting sustainable growth in the agricultural sector.

Vinskifer’s family has a strong bond with EAC, as he and his wife, Lisa, both earned medical qualifications from the college, and their children, Jerry and Jayan Palmer, are also alumni.

“Eastern Arizona College has always been a cornerstone of our community,” Vinskifer said. “I’m grateful to serve on the governing committee and eagerly anticipate contributing to the university’s success for both students and the people of Graham County.”

Tina C. McMaster, representing District 4—which includes Thatcher and parts of Safford—brings a wealth of experience as a devoted advocate for Eastern Arizona College. Her career spans engineering, industry, and education, providing a unique skill set for her role on the board.

With a minor in chemical engineering and degrees in applied mathematics, McMaster previously worked in the oil and gas sector before transitioning to education. She retired as a high school math teacher, inspiring many students to explore STEM careers. Her experience and commitment to education make her a vital asset to the university’s strategic direction.

“Eastern Arizona College is instrumental in driving workforce development and community advancement,” McMaster expressed. “We are excited to continue our mission of fostering an environment where both students and the community can thrive.”

EAC President Todd Haney commended the newly sworn-in Trustees. “The governing committee is crucial for ensuring that universities effectively serve their students and local communities,” he stated. “Visionary leaders have guided Eastern Arizona College since its inception in 1888. Vince Kiefer and Tina McMaster exemplify this leadership, and we have full confidence in their ability to lead the university into the future.”
