Large Truck Rental Company Sends Caution to Trump Administration Regarding ICE Raids

Penske Truck Responds to DHS Operations in Los Angeles

Penske Truck Rental released a statement on Wednesday, addressing concerns raised by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This comes after DHS conducted several arrests in Los Angeles, particularly near MacArthur Park.

As reported, video footage showed agents emerging from Penske trucks and approaching a group by a food stand. This incident has drawn attention, prompting Penske to clarify its position regarding the use of its vehicles in such operations.

The company stated, “Penske Truck Rental is aware of recent reports and videos on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) operations in Los Angeles. Penske strictly prohibits the transportation of people in the cargo area of vehicles under all circumstances.” They emphasized that they were unaware of their trucks being involved in these operations and did not authorize it. Penske also plans to enhance its policies to prevent future misuse.

DHS officials mentioned that they were addressing the presence of the MS-13 gang in the area when they executed the operations. As a result, 16 undocumented immigrants from Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua were apprehended.

Commenting on the situation, U.S. attorney Bill Essayri remarked on social media that “federal law enforcement cannot be negotiated,” indicating that anyone thinking immigration enforcement had ceased in Southern California was mistaken.

This action by DHS follows earlier protests against immigration enforcement earlier in the summer, which resulted in significant vandalism in downtown Los Angeles.

DHS had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident at the time of this report.
