Leading Businesses and City Bring Attainable Housing Options to Yavapai County

Fine Signing Group, Prescott Valley, Arizona Yavapai University The two organizations announced that they have joined forces in a rapid-acting effort to create more viable housing options for local teachers, firefighters, police and sheriffs, health care workers, and the workforce. This contract provides housing in: fine signature groupYavapai College’s inspirational apartments in Cottonwood City.

The collaboration between Prescott Valley community builders and Arizona Community College was born out of the rapidly growing need for affordable housing for employers and employees across the region. A recent survey found that 44% of Yavapai County renters have a cost burden and 26% of homeowners have a cost burden. Cost burden means that these renters and homeowners spend more than 30% of their income on rent or mortgage (1). “This is our first step in directly addressing the housing problem of the 70 percent of Yavapai County residents facing housing problems.” The effect has created cost burdens and pushed prices out of the market. If successful, we look forward to expanding our efforts to serve more communities,” said Brad Fain of Fain Signature Group.

According to a study entitled “Housing Arizona” by the ASU Morrison Institute for Public Policy, “Arizona is facing a housing crisis caused by a severe slowdown in the housing market following the 2008 economic recession… It has stopped, and as more people migrate to the state, the housing supply is dwindling.” It can’t keep up with population growth. According to the Arizona Department of Housing, Arizona currently has a housing shortage of 270,000 homes … This shortage has caused many people to seek or keep all kinds of housing, from luxury to affordable housing. I have a hard time doing it. (2)
