Lori Vallow Daybell appears in Maricopa County court on murder charges

PHOENIX — Lori Vallow Daybell appeared in Maricopa County court Thursday.

Vallow-Daybell arrived in Maricopa County from Idaho on Nov. 30 and was booked into jail on two counts of first-degree murder, authorities said.

On Thursday, the court entered not guilty pleas on her behalf on both counts.

Her trial is scheduled to begin on April 4, 2024.

Prosecutors asked for more time to go to trial, arguing that the date had not been properly set in a first-degree murder case that is “automatically complex.” Vallow's attorney objected. The judge left the date as is and said the matter would need to be discussed at the next court appearance, scheduled for January 18, 2024.

Earlier this year, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs requested that Daybell be extradited to Arizona after her trial in Idaho.

Vallow-Daybell was charged in May with murdering her two youngest children, 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 16-year-old Tyree Ryan, and her fifth husband's ex-wife, Tammy Daybell. was found guilty of conspiring to commit the murder of Vallow Daybell was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences.

After her conviction, she was charged a second time in Arizona with conspiring to murder her niece's ex-husband, Brandon Boudreau.

She had been indicted in Arizona in a separate felony case in 2021 after a grand jury indicted her on charges of conspiracy to murder her fourth husband, Charles Vallow.

At Vallow-Daybell's first court hearing, she asked how the two cases would be handled, how many attorneys would be appointed and when she would be able to speak with one.
