Cochise County, Arizona (3TV/CBS 5) – An 18-year-old boy has been arrested in Cochise County on suspicion of smuggling five illegal immigrants across the U.S.-Mexico border.
On Tuesday, Cochise County Sheriff’s Deputies tried to stop a 2010 Dodge Charger with a temporary license plate on State Route 80. Arizona Department of Public Safety officers spotted a vehicle traveling over 100 mph in a 35 mph zone on State Route 80 near St. David School.
The car crashed in Benson after passing over the San Pedro Bridge on SR 80 at about 120 mph. Five illegal immigrants and 18-year-old driver Bramon Wilkerson jumped out of the car and fled. They were later found and arrested.
Wilkerson is incarcerated in Cochise County Jail on a variety of charges, including human smuggling, illegal flying, danger, misconduct with a deadly weapon, and reckless driving. Five of his undocumented immigrants were turned over to U.S. Border Patrol.
