Man attempted to rescue female victim killed in Mohave County house fire

MEAD VIEW, Ariz. (KTNV) – Mohave County detectives are investigating a house fire that killed a woman in Mead View last week.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, the fire broke out in the 26000 block of North Sandy Point Drive on Friday, January 19, 2024, at approximately 5:26 p.m. The dispatcher was also informed that the female subject was still inside the residence.

Officers at the scene made contact with the man, who was cooking inside the house when he went outside to get water.

He told detectives he heard an explosion outside the residence, observed the fire and immediately went back inside.

Police found the subject deceased inside the home.

“The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification by the Mohave County Coroner's Office,” detectives said in a statement. “This investigation is ongoing.”
