The Alabama man was sentenced to prison this week and must pay a $1,000 fine.
PHOENIX – An Alabama man was sentenced to prison Monday for sending a threatening statement to the Maricopa County Elections Bureau during the 2022 election.
Brian J. Ogstad, 60, was sentenced after pleading guilty to one count of threatening communication. He will be released under supervised for 36 months and must pay a $1,000 fine, according to the Arizona Attorney’s Office.

In the Arizona primary in August 2022, OGSTAD sent multiple threatening messages to Instagram accounts maintained by the county’s election division.
The defendant’s threatening message included:
“You did that! Now you’re [expletive]. He’s dead. You will be all executed for your crimes.”
“You’re lying, you’re cheating [expletive] . . . You don’t come to my church, my business, or send your children to my school. you [expletive] It’s stupid if you think your life is safe. ”
“[Y]People are very ducking [sic] fool. Everyone knows there are a lot of you [sic]committed treason for doing so in connection with cheats, fraud and elections. You’ll all be done. Slugging [expletive]! ”
Maricopa County officials have reported that Democrat Joe Biden has been under threat since 2020, when he won Arizona slightly more than Republican Donald Trump in the presidential election. Other individuals are then criminally charged with committing threats to elected officials.
