Deputies with the Pima County Sheriff's Department responded to a suspicious person call at the Days Inn near Tucson International Airport on Saturday around 10 p.m. The sheriff's office said in a statement Sunday morning that a man was shouting and waving a sword outside a hotel room.
Upon arrival, officers attempted to speak to the man, at which point he pulled his sword from its scabbard and moved toward the officers, according to the statement. The deputy shot the man and continued to provide first aid until local Metro Fire Department arrived on the scene.
