The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has voted to provide $500,000 in additional funding to the Arizona Food Bank Network to provide relief to food insecure communities across the county.
The funds will be donated to various agencies and organizations that provide fresh and non-perishable food to struggling communities throughout Maricopa County. The goal is to provide relief to food insecure communities across the county.
The funding, approved Jan. 10, expands on $3 million already invested to address food insecurity issues across the county. In December 2023, nearly $400,000 in relief funds were awarded to Chandler, Tempe, Avondale, Surprise, and Tolleson to provide food and housing assistance to eligible individuals and families.
The Jan. 10 meeting also amended the county's partnership with the Arizona Food Bank Network, extending the partnership through the end of fiscal year 2024.
