He said the campaign was motivated by the fact that the number of most violent crimes committed by teens increased from six in 2022 to 27 in 2023. The apparent motivation for the campaign was the fatal assault on Preston, the so-called Gilbert Goons case. Lord's and other serious assaults were recorded on phones and posted on social media platforms.

“Data shows that there is an upward trend in the number of teens and boys referred for prosecution,” she said.

The 'Report, Don't Repost' campaign will be rolled out across digital media to encourage teens who have recorded or watched videos of violent crimes to not simply repost on popular social platforms. , encourage them to report it to the police.
