Phoenix (AZ Family) — Maricopa County election officials released final preparations and updated turnout details less than 24 hours before Election Day, with the county seeing the highest number of single-day voter registration submissions in county history. He said it had become.

“There were people in the lobby with garbage bags full of voter registration forms,” Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer said, adding that on Oct. 7, the last official day for voter registration, about 90,000 were collected. He pointed out that the registration form had been sent.

About 50,000 of these could be processed, but the rest “needed attention,” the recorder said, with some documents damaged or illegible, and some belonging to celebrities or TV characters. It was explained that a pseudonym such as

Officials said a large number of these registration forms were obtained by the office from organizations with “problematic” pasts.

So far, the county has received about 1.5 million ballots returned for processing, which officials say is more than it received at this point in 2016. It is said to be about the same level as 2020.

Of the 27,000 ballots that have yet to be repaired (ballots that failed signature verification, were incomplete, or could not be counted for other reasons), more than half have already been repaired.

“We have five calendar days from Election Day to heal as many people as possible,” Richer said.

After high turnout and a heated campaign, election officials say they are more prepared than ever for Election Day, but people still waiting in line to head to polling places to vote in person. People should be prepared to wait in line.

“We have invested in more voting centers, check-in stations, and voting booths than ever before. Residents should also be aware that it will take time for results to become available.

The county last week discussed election security and increased law enforcement presence in response to political threats across the Phoenix metropolitan area. At the news conference, county officials said many participants had already shown up and more were expected.
