Maricopa County Diaper Bank program extended

The county has already distributed more than 400,000 free diapers to families through this program.

PHOENIX — Good news for Valley families in need of a little help with baby supplies. Maricopa County Diaper Bank Program It has been extended until September 2024.

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to extend the program. To date, they have provided more than 400,000 diapers free of charge to families in need.

“Diaper prices can range from $0.30 to more than $0.75 per diaper depending on size and features,” the county said in a press release. “This program offers diapers in a variety of sizes, from newborns to older children, including young adult sizes for children with special needs.”

Eligible families will receive approximately $75 worth of diapers per child per month.

“Our diaper bank program does more than ease the financial burden for low-income families,” said Jacqueline Edwards, director of human services. “This program also serves as a touchpoint for families to learn about other services we offer that can improve their quality of life, such as job fairs, rental assistance, and early education.”

Families must meet certain eligibility requirements to participate in the program. Here are some of the requirements:

  • You must bring your child's birth certificate or a document with both parent and child's names on it
  • You will most likely need to provide identification proving that you are the child's parent.
  • Your family must receive SNAP, WIC, AHCCCS, or public assistance benefits
  • If your family does not receive them, you must prove your monthly income is less than 200% of the federal poverty limit.

The Department of Human Services is open every Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the East Valley Center, 1001 W. Southern Ave. in Mesa, and every Wednesday from 1 p.m. at the West Valley Center, 4425 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale. We will be handing out diapers until 4 p.m.
