Maricopa County offers accelerated workforce training program to qualifying workers in Queen Creek, Gila Bend and Wickenburg

Job seekers in rural Maricopa County will have a new option in the new year. The Board of Supervisors approved a new pilot program called Workforce 2 You.

The one-year program focused on high-demand industries such as construction, healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, and transportation. The accelerated training program will last four to 12 weeks for people in Gila Bend, Queen Creek, and Wickenburg.

Jacqueline Edwards, the county's human services director, said they are working closely with the community and employers.

“For example, there is a great need for the healthcare industry in Wickenburg. We have a thriving healthcare industry and employers within Wickenburg, but we didn't have enough staff to fill those positions.” Edwards said.
