Maricopa County Ramps Up Heat Relief, Goodyear Cooling Stations Open

These facilities, which include community centers, churches, and a variety of organizations, not only provide a place to cool off but also free water, making them an important resource for the public. According to a city announcement:These centres will be open every day and offer a safe, cool, indoor respite during the hottest hours of the day.

Several locations have been designated cooling centers in the Goodyear area. Residents can visit the Georgia T. Road Library at 1900 N. Civic Sq. in Goodyear, Arizona, or the Civic Center Library at 11350 Civic Center Dr. or Sam Garcia Library at 495 E. Western Ave. in nearby Avondale. Those closer to Litchfield Park can find refuge from the relentless Arizona sun at the Litchfield Park Library at 101 W. Wigwam Blvd. The Salvation Army-Estrella Mountain Corps at 11 N. 3rd Ave. in Avondale is also part of the relief effort.
