Over the years, ABC15’s “Political Accusations” investigation has exposed how police and prosecutors colluded to falsely incriminate dozens of protesters, including when authorities linked fake gang members. It included a plan to make up stories and claim the protesters were members.
All felony protest cases brought by Phoenix police and the county attorney’s office in 2020 ultimately resulted in charges being dismissed.
The Justice Department has also launched a full investigation into the Phoenix Police Department in the wake of the protest scandal.
