Meet Supai, the Bucks County canine dubbed ‘Happiest Pet on Earth’

After 10 years of roaming around the Havasupai Indian Reservation at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, Bucks County’s dog Spy recently revealedhappiest pet on earth

In between hiking trips with his owner, Tory Mill, Spy currently spends much of his day sunbathing outside his home in Doylestown.

“She’s the sweetest girl ever,” Mill said. “Anyone who meets her will say, ‘This is the most special dog I’ve ever met.'”

Spy’s life is currently full of happiness, but she and Mil first met in 2014, when she was about six months old and living at the bottom of a ravine surrounded by 30 to 40 wild dogs. It was when

The dogs roamed freely while mules delivered mail nearby and hikers passed by. Mir said she would often wake up in the morning to find her dog waiting for food outside her tent.

“They seemed dependent on tourists in a way,” Mill said.

On the way home, Mir made eye contact with Spy and said he felt a special connection with him that he hadn’t felt with other dogs he’d met on vacation.

“I just felt something about this dog, just the look in his eyes,” she said.

Mir shared the beef jerky with Spy, whose nose was severely sunburned due to dehydration. She was hooked and hiked a six-mile journey up and out of the canyon with her new best friend.

“She hit it off right away and I could tell we had a special connection,” she said.

When Mir returned to the reservation, he confirmed with the locals that the spies had free access. Soon, they were heading to California to start a life together.

“I felt like she needed me,” she said. “I don’t think she would have lasted much longer if I hadn’t taken her.”

It turned out that Spy had some health issues from the beginning of her life in the wild, but she quickly became a typical healthy young pup full of energy.

Mill eventually finished his college career. They spent the next ten years in various western states, eventually settling in Bucks County.

“We had a wonderful life together,” Mill said.

From Montana to Colorado to Oregon, Spy’s abundant energy was perfect for a life of traveling and running with Mil, who skateboarded, backcountry skied, and more.

And although Supai has developed a preference for snow, Mir says he still finds ways to stay true to his desert beginnings, with an affinity for long sunbathing, hiking and beach visits. . Of course, it just doesn’t touch the water.

Since seeing eye to eye and coming together all those years ago, Mil and Spy have developed a unique way of communicating.

“She’s really incredibly smart and has such a personality that she can tell me how she feels, when she’s happy, and everything she needs,” Mill said.

As a result of winning first place in a contest sponsored by reliable house sitterThe Spy and the Mill won a vacation with $5,000 in flight and accommodation vouchers.
