Yuma native Carrie Zaragoza has been appointed executive director of the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County Chamber of Commerce has welcomed a new Executive Director, Carrie Zaragoza.
Zaragoza has a lot of experience working with local communities and is eager to expand and share that expertise.
“Starting in education and helping build community in that way was kind of a natural progression from when I was teaching third grade to working at Northern Arizona University and then Arizona Western College,” Zaragoza says, “What I was really doing there was working for the business community, placing participants from my programs into companies to help them grow and expand and find great employees with really good knowledge. And then starting to work with the business community on this side was just the next formal step.”
The Yuma County Chamber of Commerce's mission is to help Yuma County businesses thrive and grow.
“If you have a business in Yuma County, we invite you to join us. We'll help you get your brand out in the community and in front of other business owners,” Zaragoza explained.
Zaragoza says her role is to let the community know what they do and the benefits of joining the organization.
Since 1905, the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce has been connecting Yuma County businesses.
The Chamber of Commerce will host a Community Business Expo on Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Yuma Civic Center.
“It's Halloween themed, so you'll have trick-or-treaters and costume contests, but it's also a great opportunity for businesses to get their brand in front of the community,” Zaragoza said.
