Men busted for Yavapai County gas thefts tied to years-long spree, deputies say

Yabapai County, Arizona (Az Family) – Two men allegedly stole hundreds of gallons of gas in Yabapai County, and authorities say similar crimes are suspected across other states, dating back several years.

On Saturday, March 29th, a Yabapai County Sheriff’s Office volunteer unit was called to report two suspicious vehicles nearby Main and Third Street, just east of Highway 69 on Dewey Humboldt. Volunteer for protectionor VIPs supporting YCSO’s day-to-day operations, have recognized that the vehicle has coincided with other recent fuel thefts in the area and notified the corresponding lawmakers.

The suspect left before he arrived, but another aide soon found a speeding of a white Dodge flatbed pickup truck on highway 69.

The second vehicle, the Cadillac Escalade, also quickly stopped. So the lawmakers found some blue 55-gallon drums in an SUV that smelled like gasoline.

YCSO has arrested both drivers, identified as a 36- and 42-year-old man, for felony theft and criminal damages that allegedly stole thousands of dollars in fuel from several gas stations in Yabapai County. Their names and mug shots have not been released.

Authorities believe he is also a suspect in fuel theft in several states dating back to 2019. The billing is pending.
