Migrant arrested after high-speed chase involving stolen vehicle in Cochise County

TUCSON, Ariz. (13News) – An undocumented immigrant who already faces charges of illegal entry is facing numerous charges after a high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle in Cochise County.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office announced that 23-year-old Milton Javier Ahumada Torres was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, endangerment and resisting arrest.

According to CCSO, law enforcement was notified of a stolen vehicle around noon on Thursday, Feb. 1, near milepost 310 on Highway 90 near Whetstone.

Huachuca police officers tried to stop Ahumada Torres on the Buffalo Solder Trail after he ran a red light.

Ahumada-Torres allegedly refused to stop and began “driving at excessive speed and in an aggressive manner” on SR 90.

CCSO said Ahumada-Torres was driving the wrong way on the road, reaching speeds in excess of 130 miles per hour.

Authorities used a tire deflation device to stop a vehicle in the area of ​​RV City and Oak Street in Wetstone. Ahumada-Torres fled the scene but was captured.

CCSO said Ahmada-Torres had previously been arrested for illegal entry and was on supervised release.

A handgun was found inside the car near the driver's seat.
