Political Analysis on Harris and Biden’s Impact on Democrats
Political analyst Victor Davis Hanson recently offered a critical perspective on Fox News regarding the potential risks posed by former Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Joe Biden to the Democratic Party.
During his appearance on “Jesse Watters: Primetime,” guest host Charlie Hurt posed a question about which figure poses a greater threat to the party. Without hesitation, Hanson pointed to Harris. He mentioned that while Biden’s cognitive decline might be seen as a result of aging, Harris’s inconsistent communication raises more concerns.
“Joe Biden has a limited window where he won’t be active much longer, so he has an expiration date. But she’ll be around for a while,” Hanson stated. He added that Biden’s cognitive issues can be attributed to natural aging, which offers him some leniency; Harris, however, lacks the same excuses.
While Hanson didn’t offer direct criticism of Harris, he described her as a concern for the Democrats.
“She struggles to articulate her thoughts, and she’s aware of it. Every time she tries to speak, there’s this underlying belief that she might falter,” he remarked.
Hanson also touched on Biden’s communication difficulties, stating, “Joe’s speaking is inconsistent. His words often confuse listeners. The only time he seems energized is when he’s reacting to Trump. It’s a brief moment of clarity, followed by rapid emotional shifts.”
On Wednesday, Harris announced she will not be running for governor of California, but she remains open about a potential presidential bid in 2028. In her statement, she expressed her eagerness to help elect Democrats nationwide, hinting at more details about her future plans to come.
In the 2020 presidential race, Harris did not secure any of the seven battleground states, which were won by Trump. Her own run for the presidency that year resulted in only 844 votes in the Democratic primary, indicating a challenging path.
