LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – The Mojave County Sheriff’s Office has released new information regarding an investigation into multiple arrests and crashes near Lake Havasu over Memorial Day weekend.
Patrol boats were stationed from Parker Dam on the Colorado River to Davis Dam on Lake Havasu throughout the weekend, according to the MCSO’s Boat Safety Office.
In addition to assisting multiple agencies with other collisions and incidents, agents investigated three boating accidents with no injuries and one boating accident with injuries, according to a news release. One of her notable incidents was the drowning of her 8-year-old girl in the London Bridge Beach swimming area.
Officials said she was still in “very critical condition” in the pediatric intensive care unit.
Agents also contacted 270 rowers and filed 190 warnings, 49 summons, 14 for reckless fishing, 1 arrest for underage drinking and 7 for operating a personal watercraft while under the influence. made an arrest. Lawmakers also responded to nine medical requests and provided assistance to 21 boaters.
“Despite the weekend’s maritime traffic jams, lawmakers made several positive and educational touches,” the news release said. “The Mojave County Sheriff’s Office is calling on the public to boat safely, boat wisely, boat calm, and always wear a life jacket.”
