Moore co-sponsors bill to end congressional representation for illegal immigrants

Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) wants to make sure illegal immigration is not used to gain Democratic seats in the future.

Co-sponsored by a member of the Diet equal representation law Preventing the inclusion of illegal immigrants in the apportionment of congressional districts and Electoral College maps.

“Only American citizens can vote, and only American citizens should be counted in determining federal representation,” Moore said. β€œIt is outrageous to reward open borders policies by diminishing the voice of the American people. I would like to thank my colleagues Congressman Edwards and Congressman Davidson for their commitment to ensuring that only American citizens serve in Congress. Thank you for that.”

Earlier this year, Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) sounded the alarm about problems with illegal immigrants being counted in the census and then used for representation in Congress.

“[P]Politically, when these people go to California or New York, they're counted in the next census to determine how many members of Congress that state has,” Palmer said.

“You know, New York has lost a representative, California has lost a representative. That means we're going to have 12 million people in the country illegally and they're going to go to California, New York, Illinois, etc., but we When they census them, they will count them for representative purposes, and that should not be the case.”

The Equal Representation Act stipulates the following:

  • Requires the Census Bureau to reinstate the citizenship question on the decennial census.
  • It allows only U.S. citizens to count in determining the number of seats in Congress, which also affects electoral votes in presidential elections.
  • Requires states to publicly report all information collected from citizenship questions within 120 days after the end of each decennial census.
