Maricopa County, Ariz. — There were 7,688 evictions filed in Maricopa County during October, according to data from the Maricopa County Justice Court. As a result, the number of eviction filings in October tied with August 2023, making it the eighth highest in monthly history.

There were about 150 more eviction filings in October than in September. As of Nov. 5, the number of evictions filed so far this year was the highest since 2000.
Filing an eviction does not mean that the person receiving the eviction notice will be evicted from the home. According to the Maricopa County Justice Court. In some cases, evictions are filed and disputes between residents and landlords are handled out of court. In some cases, the matter may go to court to resolve the issue.
