Cochise County, Arizona (KGUN) — The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is preparing for its expansion. Efforts in Opioid Education.
CCSO received a $250,000 grant from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. This is money obtained through a settlement between the state and her four drug distributors.
Sheriff Mark Dunnells has fentanyl, heroin and other drug-related deathsit is important to bring awareness to the community.
The idea is for law enforcement to speak at schools and public events to better inform residents.
“Whether it’s lieutenants, troopers, or cops, all law enforcement officers are already well-educated about what’s going on in our community,” Dunnells said. Classroom speaking with children is the most beneficial thing you can do. And that’s what we’re trying to do. If we can save one life, one life, we have done something positive. ”
They plan to start the program by February and the costs will be covered until June.
