The Morgan County 4-H Foundation awarded scholarships to four graduating fourth-year Morgan County 4-H members. These scholarships are awarded to her 4-H who has been actively involved in her 4-H in the areas of leadership, community service, and scholarship. Recipients of scholarships include Raylyn Carlock, Delaney Dregaert, Daniel Moon,
Madison Thomas.
Raelynn Carlock has been a member of the Lads ‘n’ Lassies 4-H club for 11 years. She has competed in demonstration competitions and Creative Her Cook competitions at both the county and state levels, as well as completed projects in her animal husbandry, general and home economics areas. Raylin has planned and participated in several community service projects at the club and county level. She currently serves as President of the Lads ‘n’ Lassies Club, the Morgan County 4-H Council, District 1, and a member of the state Senate team. She has been enrolled in her roll of Alpha Honor for four years at Fort Morgan High School and is an active member of the FFA, National Honor Society, and tennis her team. Raylin will attend West Texas A&M University in the fall, majoring in animal science and agricultural business. Raylin is the daughter of Ray Carlock and Deb Carlock.
Ryan and Carla’s daughter, Delaney Dragert, has been a member of the Valley View Ag 4-H club for 11 years. Delaney has held several positions during her 4-H career, and she currently serves as president of the club. She is a member of the Morgan County 4-H Council and has assisted county livestock clinics as a participant and leader. She has attended state fairs as a livestock exhibitor and participated in creative cook competitions. Delaney has also planned and participated in numerous community service projects. She is in the top 25% of Blush High School alumni and is active on the FFA, softball, tennis and track teams. Delaney plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall, majoring in Agricultural Media and Communications.
Daniel Moon has been a member of the Explorers 4-H Club for nine years. During this time, she has held a number of positions and is currently president. Daniel has been involved in several project areas such as livestock and shooting sports as a county junior leader. This allowed her to serve as her 4-H shooting sports ambassador for Colorado. Her community service at Fort Her Morgan, Blush, Hillrose and Wiggins keeps her busy. Danielle is in the top 25% of Wiggins High School alumni and she has served in FFA, National Honor Society, FBLA, Student Council and more. She attended Laramie County Community College and then plans to attend the University of Wyoming.
So she wants to major in Political Science and minor in Agriculture. Daniel is the daughter of Courtney Wentzke and Bill Moon.
A nine-year member of the Longmeadow 4-H Club, Madison Thomas has been active at various levels with the club. As an officer she has been in service for three years and has worked on projects in a variety of areas such as animal husbandry, general, home economics and shooting sports, including her eight years in archery. Madison is a recipient of the Campbell Dean Memorial Scholarship.this
The scholarship is open to 4-H members who actively participate in archery projects. Madison is the top student in her class at Wiggins High School and is active in the FFA and student council. She plans to enroll at Virginia Tech in the fall and join the cadet corps to major in aerospace.
Engineering to pursue leadership positions in the United States Air Force. Madison is the daughter of Brooke Thomas and Richard Thomas.
Farmers State Bank of Brush has announced the winners of the 2023 Anna C. Pettis Scholarship.
The winners are Baillie Link and Olivia Zilek for Blush and Sivanna McGuire for Akron. This scholarship has been awarded annually since her 1971 to outstanding senior female students at public high schools in Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, and Yuma counties. They are sponsored by the Jack Pettis Memorial Foundation in memory of community educator, author, and journalist Anna C. Pettis. A committee selects the final candidates, who are then interviewed for their academics, leadership, character, and potential at the university. This year, three girls from two high schools applied and won scholarships.
The daughter of Rod Link and Bridget Link, Link plans to attend Saint Benedict College in St. Joseph, Minnesota to study nutrition and business. At Blush High School, Bailey was class president of the student council, chapter president of America’s Future Business Leaders, club captain of the Christian Athlete Fellowship, and qualified for the International Science Fair. She represented her three sports and also played in her jazz band. She has also volunteered at the Special Olympics, her church, and her Center for Pregnancy Resources.
The daughter of Dan and Kate Zirek, Zirek plans to attend West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, to study nursing. At Blush High School, Olivia was the secretary of the Christian Athlete Fellowship, class clerk of the student council, attended the Science Her Fair, and was also the CHSAA State Representative. She represented her two sports and even participated in dancing. She volunteered at food banks and churches in Brush and Morgan counties.
McGuire, the daughter of Karl and Paula McGuire, plans to attend the University of Montana to study creative writing. During high school, she acted with her Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and her YES 2. Syvannah has attended the Varsity Pom and the Knowledge Bowl. She wrote her two novels, taught dance to her students, and was also a member of Strium. She volunteers with the American Legion and Foreign War Veterans. Sivannah was elected as a Colorado Women’s State Representative in 2022.
