MORGAN MURPHY: Biden Stumbles Towards World War III

During the ABC debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, the former president Issued a warning That should terrify every American.[President Joe Biden] I didn't know how to stop it [the war in Ukraine]And now millions of people are dead and it's only going to get worse, possibly leading to World War III. David, stop messing around. We're toying with World War III. And we have a president and we don't even know who it is. Where is our president?”

The debate “moderator” ignored Trump's warning and blew the whistle, to which Trump responded, “Do you want Ukraine to win this war?” I've heard more thoughtful questions from fourth graders.

What Trump made clear, and ABC blithely ignored, is that the Biden administration is risking a global war over Ukraine. The last time we came this close to using nuclear weapons was with West Berlin and Russian missiles 90 miles off the coast of Florida. Unlike now, Americans understood clearly what was at stake. The presidents who oversaw those crises explained the calculus to their citizens.

But the Biden administration, with little public debate, is nudging the country ever closer to world war. The U.S. is now engrossed in what strategists demurely call a “proxy war” with Russia, with the U.S. providing weapons, military advice, money and intelligence, and Ukraine providing personnel.

As the cost of this proxy war approaches $200 billion, few Americans understand the end goal. There is little discussion in Washington, DC about what a “victory” for Ukraine would look like. As Trump accurately pointed out, Biden is mostly missing in action, but At the request of Vladimir Putin negotiate a settlement. Even more worrying, the Biden administration appears to be seriously considering escalating U.S. involvement. (Related article: Morgan Murphy: Biden again has no strategy for Ukraine. Where is the money going?)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is said to be developing a “plan” to present to President Biden on how to end the war. Darkly warned “There can be no compromise with President Putin. He does not want to end the war diplomatically, so today's dialogue is empty and meaningless in principle,” he said last month.

Before Congress gives Ukraine another cent in funding, the American people should have a chance to read and evaluate Zelensky's plan. A “no compromise” end to the war is wildly unrealistic, barring the complete collapse of the Russian military. Putin has made it clear that he will never accept Ukraine as a NATO member or give up Crimea.

Last week, Biden He said he was open The idea is for Ukraine to be able to use US-supplied missiles to strike targets deep inside Russia. It doesn't take a military genius to see that Zelensky wants the US and NATO to directly enter the war. Since Russia outstrips Ukraine in producing soldiers and munitions, that is its best chance for the “victory” the Ukrainian leader has outlined.

President Zelenskyy’s requests for greater U.S. involvement in the conflict should be evaluated very carefully. In particular, Ukraine is seeking the lifting of targeting restrictions on the Army Air Forces’ Tactical Missile System (ATACMS). President Biden sent the missiles to Ukraine as part of an aid package last spring and is reportedly considering lifting the restrictions as of this writing.

That's a terrible idea.

First, Russia has made it clear that lifting the restrictions would be tantamount to direct US intervention in the war: “Washington and other European countries are becoming parties to the war in Ukraine,” said Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the Russian State Duma. said.

Second, Ukraine has already attacked Moscow repetition With drones. What would Putin's reaction be to bomb the Kremlin with a US-manufactured and approved ATACM? Imagine Russian missiles hitting Washington with Moscow's approval. (Related article: Trump is right: The establishment's new Cold War is heading for nuclear war.)

Finally, let us hope that Biden's team takes Putin's nuclear threats seriously. Britain's MI6 chief Richard Moore recently said that “Russian intelligence is a bit out of control,” but the CIA has not yet confirmed that Russia is I almost got nuclear weapons. Regarding the Ukrainian war in the summer of 2022.

Trump warned during the debate:[Putin has] “Nuclear weapons. Nobody thinks of that. And then he might use it after all.”

Our best hope of avoiding this scenario is a swift return to rational national governance.
