Georgia Rep. Greene Challenges Claims About Charlie Kirk Suspect
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia questioned the narrative that emerged from Democrats regarding Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, suggesting that the 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who has ties to Kirk, aligns with Trump’s political agenda due to his family’s background. Greene took to the House Oversight Committee to clarify that this perception is misleading.
One of the committee’s members, Crockett, claimed that Robinson’s family identified as “all Maga.” However, Greene pushed back, highlighting evidence that Robinson actually embraced more liberal views, particularly concerning LGBTQ+ issues.
“I have evidence because I wasn’t given equal discussion time. According to Yahoo News, ‘Charlie Kirk’s suspect’s grandma claims the family is all Maga,'” Crockett mentioned.
Greene then reiterated her points about Robinson. “Thanks to the chairman, I can confirm that Tyler Robinson, the young man involved in this tragic incident, is not aligned with Maga. Sure, his family may lean Republican, but everything we’ve uncovered shows he’s actually a leftist and engages with online groups associated with ANTIFA,” she stated. “He was involved with biological males and that kind of politics.”
She emphasized the dangers of extreme rhetoric, saying, “We don’t condone that sort of talk. It leads to death threats every day, and it contributes to violent incidents in this country. This kind of environment nearly resulted in President Trump being assassinated this summer and put Charlie Kirk’s life in jeopardy.” Greene warned against further tolerance of such narratives.
Despite the push by some media and public figures to label Robinson as a conservative based on his family, it appears he did not share their beliefs. Understandably, confusion persists.
Authorities were informed by Robinson’s parents that he had changed politically, becoming “more gay and right-oriented,” according to Utah County lawyer Jeffrey Gray. Investigators found bullet casings linked to Robinson, which had leftist messages etched into them, like “Hey Fascist! Catch!” and “Bella Chao.”
The phrase “owo,” often associated with a specific meme, was also found on one of the casings, a tale that traces back to the furry community.
Robinson lived with his transgender boyfriend, Lance Toigs, and both had connections to the furry culture. Reports mention Robinson’s involvement with a dating simulator game centered on the furry scene, reflecting his interests that diverged significantly from the political stance attributed to him by some.
A relative of Toigs indicated that he held disdain for conservatives and Christians. This relationship further illustrates a complexity in Robinson’s perspectives.
According to authorities, Robinson allegedly confessed via text to Toigs about the murder, stating it was justified by what he perceived as Kirk’s “hate,” insisting that “hate cannot be negotiated.”
