Musk Intensifies Pressure on Trump, Backs GOP Outsider Massie

Elon Musk’s Support for Rep. Thomas Massey Challenges Trump

Elon Musk is putting pressure on President Donald Trump by backing Republican Representative Thomas Massey from Kentucky, who has pledged to defeat Trump in the Central region.

Musk expressed his support for Massey’s campaign for reelection in 2026 during a conversation about legislative backing on Monday. He went so far as to state, “I do it,” in response to a prompt regarding support for lawmakers. The following day, he reacted to a question about who Massey’s council run would benefit with simply “I.”

Musk has been vocal in his criticism of the substantial spending bills central to Trump’s policy agenda, especially as the Senate gears up for a vote on these issues. Trump responded angrily on Monday night, suggesting the use of government efficiency to investigate businesses that conceal their activities.

On the same day, Musk intensified his opposition to the large budget package, targeting GOP legislators who support primary election measures. He condemned all members of Congress who hastily voted to reduce government spending while increasing national debt, stating they “should bow in shame!”

Massey has openly criticized Trump’s extensive domestic policy proposal, referring to it as the “big beautiful bill,” and has labeled the U.S. strike on Iran as unconstitutional. Kentucky Republicans worked alongside California Democrat Rep. Locanna on a bipartisan resolution aimed at preventing U.S. involvement in the Iran conflict prior to Trump’s actions.

The American Israeli Public Relations Committee (AIPAC) is actively campaigning against Massey as he approaches the 2026 elections.

In an exclusive interview, Massey mentioned he might consider a scaled-back version of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” but he opposes the current iteration for not sufficiently cutting government spending.

He noted, “The political calculation that both the President and AIPAC must consider is that if they go after me and fail, they lose a significant amount of credibility.”

Despite Trump’s assurance of support for Massey, it appears that the challenger’s campaign is gaining traction, having raised over $177,000 last week with a total exceeding $230,000 by Friday.
