Cindy Myrex, a real estate agent from Cullman, has secured the Republican nomination for the upcoming special election in Alabama’s House District. Myrex emerged victorious against Kalman City Councilman Clint Hollingsworth, garnering 3,048 votes compared to Hollingsworth’s 2,160. Both candidates needed to proceed to this runoff after neither achieved the required threshold in the July GOP Special Primary.
In a brief video message after her victory was announced, Myrex expressed her gratitude to her supporters.
“I’m thankful to everyone who showed up for me,” Myrex stated. “I asked for your support, and indeed, you came through. I acknowledge my calling for this mission, and I will carry it with me to the end.”
“There’s another round coming in October. When I go to Montgomery, your voices will accompany me. I won’t forget, and I’m committed to opening channels for dialogue.”
Alabama Republican Chief of Staff Shannon Whitt praised both candidates for their campaigning efforts.
“We appreciate Clint Hollingsworth and Cindy Myrex for conducting strong campaigns in this crucial race. Serving the public demands dedication and sacrifice—qualities both candidates have exhibited for the people of House District 12.”
Following the results, Hollingsworth thanked his supporters and reflected on the challenging campaign.
“I want to express my gratitude to my family, friends, supporters, and everyone who voted,” he said. “This was a tough battle, and it would not have been possible without your backing. I extend my thanks to the residents of District 12.”
Council members congratulated Myrex on her success.
“I wish her luck in Montgomery and hope she remains loyal and faithful in representing our district.”
Myrex will compete against former Good Hope City Councilman Matt Glover in the general election set for October 28th.
