Navajo County Victims’ Rights Symposium returns to Northland Pioneer College April 26 | Navajo-Hopi Observer

SNOWFLAKE, Arizona — The 12th Annual Navajo County Attorney’s Office Victim Rights Symposium will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Northland Pioneer University Snowflake Campus in Arizona. Running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, the symposium provides accredited training for professionals, youth and the general public who work with victims at all stages of the criminal justice process. This year’s theme is “Survivor Voices: Elevate, Engage, and Make a Difference” in support of National Crime Victim Rights Week.

Keynote speaker is Cayley, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and creator of “Cayley’s Law,” which allows victims of certain violent crimes to ask the courts to seek a life injunction against their perpetrators. – It’s Mr. Kosak. The event will feature workshops on a variety of subjects including reparations, victim impact panels, youth workshops, latest drug trafficking trends, domestic violence and firearms. Most of the workshops are accredited by his AZPOST, CLE and COJECT, allowing participants to earn continuing education credits.

The symposium is open to anyone interested in victims’ rights, and registration is $10, which includes lunch. Participants can participate in person or virtually. This year’s symposium is sponsored by Arizona Public Service, Arizona Attorney’s Advisory Board, Action Medical, and the Navajo County Attorney’s Office. Her STOP grant program for the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Families will enable APAAC to support training.

Navajo County Attorney Brad Carlyon said the symposium provides an annual opportunity to learn about best practices and the latest insights on how to support, protect and ensure justice for victims. He invited representatives from all regions of the survivor’s journey to attend the symposium.
