Flagstaff, Arizona — Following state legislation giving local governments more control over short-term vacation rentals, the Coconino County Board of Supervisors will consider adopting an ordinance requiring permit applications and fees for such short-term vacation rentals. .
A short-term vacation rental is defined as renting a dwelling or part of a dwelling for a period of less than 30 consecutive days.
In addition to permits, short-term rental property owners or renters are required to notify neighborhoods of their operations, meet building codes, prevent rentals for special events, and prevent owners from being convicted of certain felonies. You must confirm that you have not received it and authorize it. Allows suspensions and fines depending on confirmed violations, among other requirements.
The county’s Community Development Agency presented the draft ordinance to the Board of Supervisors meeting on January 24, followed by discussion by supervisors.
