New Wilson Electric training facility at Central Arizona College’s Apache Junction campus

The ribbon was recently cut for the new Wilson Electric training facility at Central Arizona College’s Superstition Mountain Campus at 805 S. Idaho Road, Apache Junction.

According to the release, the facility was designed and built by Wilson Electric to provide industry-standard training opportunities for students in the Commercial Electrician and Installer Certification Program.

In December 2018, Wilson Electric contacted Central Arizona College to explore options for creating a commercial electrical installation program that reflected the college’s partnership with Sundt Construction. CAC management worked with Wilson’s leadership to develop a one-semester, 18-credit-hour commercial electrician installation program to meet the growing need for commercial electricians, and the program was launched in his January 2019 started.

Twenty-five students were enrolled in the first year of the Wilson-CAC workforce development partnership, and this number doubled the following year. Enrollment in the program continues to be strong and student performance is excellent, the release said.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a Commercial Electrician Installer Certificate from CAC and Certificate Credentials from the National Center for Construction Education and Research and OSHA.

“CAC and Wilson Electric have a strong partnership that provides a career path for aspiring electrical engineers,” said Todd Krimath, president of Wilson Electric.

The commercial electrician installer program will run four days a week for eight weeks at the Superstition Mountain campus, he said.

“The program includes visits to field and vendor training facilities, as well as a community outreach program.
